      Degree Nursing Programs in Ghana

      The degree nursing program is a 4year (8 semesters in all) basic nursing education program. There are three different specializations applicants can choose from when applying for the program.

      Candidate who successfully go through the program are required to take the prescribed examination conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Successful candidates will be required to undergo 1 year mandatory internship and then register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana before they can practice as Professional Nurses or Midwives in Ghana.

      ENTRY REQUIREMENT

      West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) holders must have an aggregate score of thirty (30) or better in six subjects, comprising 3 core and 3 electives. They must have Credits (A1 – C6) in three Core Subjects i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science. Applicants must also have Credits (A1 – C6) in three Elective Subjects.

      Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) holders must have an aggregate score of Twenty-Four (24) or better in six subjects, comprising 3 core and 3 electives. They must have Credits (A– D) in three Core Subjects i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science. Applicants must also have Credits (A – D) in three Electives Subjects.

      ADMISSION

      Admissions are usually done August. However, in government universities, admissions forms are sold several months before the month of admission. Applicants may be required to go through interview session and write an entry examination.  Some private universities admit students twice in a year; i.e in February and in August.
